Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, patient-centered care to individuals in a correctional mental health setting
- Monitor and document patient behavior, status changes, and progress in clear, timely records
- Assist with therapeutic activities and follow individualized care plans to support recovery
- Observe medication administration protocols and report concerns to clinical staff
- Use de-escalation techniques and trauma-informed approaches to maintain a safe environment
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care and ensure continuity
Qualifications
- Valid Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) license in good standing
- Ability to work the assigned schedule (Thu-Mon), including evenings 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM
- Willingness to complete the two-week training program
- Prior experience in psychiatric, behavioral health, or correctional healthcare is preferred
- Clear background check and ability to work in a correctional facility as required
Education
- High school diploma or GED required; LPT license required
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong observational and documentation skills
- Proficiency in de-escalation and crisis intervention techniques
- Familiarity with mental health care practices and therapeutic communication
- Teamwork and collaboration with nursing and behavioral health clinicians
- Ability to follow policies, procedures, and safety protocols in a secure facility
