Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate patient observation and support in a psychiatric correctional setting
• Use evidence-based de-escalation and crisis intervention techniques to maintain safety
• Accurately document patient behaviors, interventions, and progress notes
• Assist with therapeutic activities and support treatment plans as directed
• Communicate clearly and professionally with the multidisciplinary team
• Follow facility policies, security protocols, and infection control procedures

Qualifications

• Current California Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) in good standing
• Ability to pass background checks and facility-required screenings
• Comfortable working in a correctional facility and following institutional protocols
• Professional communication skills and ability to work in a team
• Availability for the specified shift pattern and required orientation

Education

• Completion of an approved Psychiatric Technician program and active LPT licensure
• High school diploma or GED

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong skills in observation, behavior documentation, and reporting
• Knowledge of psychiatric care practices, crisis intervention, and patient safety
• Ability to manage challenging behaviors with calm, therapeutic approaches
• Basic computer skills for electronic charting and documentation
• Familiarity with infection control and safety protocols

This contract is based at Salinas Valley State Prison in Soledad, close to outdoor and coastal delights.
