Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate and professional psychiatric care to incarcerated patients, maintaining safety and dignity
• Monitor patient behavior, document observations, and report changes in condition promptly
• Administer and observe treatment interventions as directed by licensed clinicians
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to support coordinated patient care plans
• Assist with de-escalation and crisis intervention using training and best practices
• Maintain accurate clinical records and complete required documentation in a timely manner
• Support facility protocols around safety, security, and infection control

Qualifications

• Active Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) credential in the state of California
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or willingness to obtain during orientation
• Ability to pass required background checks and facility clearance for correctional settings
• Comfort working in a correctional healthcare environment and following security procedures
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
• Reliable attendance and the flexibility to work the posted schedule (Thu-Mon evenings)

Education

• High school diploma or GED required; completion of a Psychiatric Technician training program or equivalent
• Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) credential required

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of mental health conditions, behaviors, and basic psychiatric interventions
• Skill in patient observation, documentation, and clinical reporting
• Ability to apply de-escalation techniques and crisis management strategies
• Familiarity with correctional healthcare policies and safety protocols
• Basic medication administration principles and charting practices
• Good interpersonal skills for working with patients and clinical staff
