Roles & Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough mental health assessments and diagnostic evaluations for patients in a correctional setting
• Provide evidence-based individual and group therapy that supports recovery and risk reduction
• Deliver crisis intervention and stabilization when acute situations arise
• Develop and maintain clear, timely clinical documentation and treatment plans
• Collaborate with custody staff, medical teams, and multidisciplinary colleagues to coordinate care
• Participate in training and supervision activities during the two-week onboarding period
• Contribute to a culture of safety, respect, and rehabilitation within the facility

Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted CA license as a Psychologist (PhD or PsyD) OR active CA licensure as LMFT, LPCC, or LCSW (PSYL/LMFT/LPCC/LCSW candidates encouraged to apply)
• Experience providing mental health services in institutional, forensic, or community behavioral health settings preferred
• Ability to pass required facility background checks and meet correctional facility clearance requirements
• Strong clinical assessment, documentation, and crisis management skills
• Willingness to complete the 2-week training (5/8s, Monday-Friday) prior to regular schedule

Education

• Doctoral degree in Psychology (PhD or PsyD) preferred for Psychologist role
• Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, or Marriage and Family Therapy acceptable for LMFT/LPCC/LCSW candidates

Knowledge & Skills

• Risk assessment and suicide prevention
• Trauma-informed care and evidence-based therapies such as CBT
• Group therapy facilitation
• Clear, timely clinical documentation and treatment planning
• Interdisciplinary collaboration and communication
• Cultural sensitivity and working with diverse populations
