Roles & Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough mental health assessments and diagnostic evaluations for patients in a correctional setting
- Provide evidence-based individual and group therapy that supports recovery and risk reduction
- Deliver crisis intervention and stabilization when acute situations arise
- Develop and maintain clear, timely clinical documentation and treatment plans
- Collaborate with custody staff, medical teams, and multidisciplinary colleagues to coordinate care
- Participate in training and supervision activities during the two-week onboarding period
- Contribute to a culture of safety, respect, and rehabilitation within the facility
Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted CA license as a Psychologist (PhD or PsyD) OR active CA licensure as LMFT, LPCC, or LCSW (PSYL/LMFT/LPCC/LCSW candidates encouraged to apply)
- Experience providing mental health services in institutional, forensic, or community behavioral health settings preferred
- Ability to pass required facility background checks and meet correctional facility clearance requirements
- Strong clinical assessment, documentation, and crisis management skills
- Willingness to complete the 2-week training (5/8s, Monday-Friday) prior to regular schedule
Education
- Doctoral degree in Psychology (PhD or PsyD) preferred for Psychologist role
- Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, or Marriage and Family Therapy acceptable for LMFT/LPCC/LCSW candidates
Knowledge & Skills
- Risk assessment and suicide prevention
- Trauma-informed care and evidence-based therapies such as CBT
- Group therapy facilitation
- Clear, timely clinical documentation and treatment planning
- Interdisciplinary collaboration and communication
- Cultural sensitivity and working with diverse populations
