Roles & Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments and diagnostic evaluations
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for mental health and substance use disorders
- Provide individual, group, and family therapy consistent with best practices
- Collaborate with correctional facility staff and the multidisciplinary team to coordinate care
- Document clinical progress, treatment plans, and discharge summaries accurately and on time
- Deliver trauma-informed, culturally sensitive care and crisis intervention when needed
- Participate in orientation, training, and case consultation to support quality outcomes
Qualifications
- Licensed Psychologist, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) (active or eligible)
- Experience or training in substance abuse treatment and mental health interventions
- Current, valid license to practice in California or eligibility to obtain one
- Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and treatment planning skills
- Ability to work effectively within a correctional/substance abuse treatment setting
- Reliable professional references and completion of required facility onboarding
Education
- Master's or Doctoral degree in Psychology, Counseling, Marriage & Family Therapy, or related behavioral health field (required for licensure)
Knowledge & Skills
- Substance abuse treatment approaches and relapse prevention strategies
- Evidence-based therapy modalities (CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing)
- Crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques
- Behavioral health documentation and electronic medical records
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and team collaboration skills
- Understanding of confidentiality, ethics, and facility safety protocols
