Roles & Responsibilities

• Design and lead meaningful therapeutic recreation activities tailored to individuals and groups
• Assess participant strengths and needs to create goal-driven treatment plans
• Facilitate skill-building sessions that support mental health recovery and social functioning
• Document progress clearly and maintain accurate clinical records
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate recreation therapy into care plans
• Ensure a safe, respectful environment while working within correctional facility protocols

Qualifications

• Experience in recreational therapy with a focus or interest in mental health
• Comfort working Monday through Thursday in a 4x10 schedule, 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM
• Current CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain
• Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) preferred or working toward certification
• Ability to pass required background checks and facility clearances for placement at PVSP

Education

• Associate or Bachelor's degree in Recreational Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation, or related field preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Group facilitation and activity planning skills
• Knowledge of therapeutic recreation modalities and mental health interventions
• Strong clinical documentation and treatment planning abilities
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to adapt programs to meet diverse needs and security requirements
