Roles & Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments for patients
• Develop and manage individualized treatment plans, including psychopharmacology
• Provide crisis assessments and timely interventions to ensure patient safety
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary mental health team to coordinate care
• Document clinical encounters clearly and maintain compliance with facility standards
• Participate in team meetings, case reviews, and ongoing quality improvement efforts
• Support training and mentorship of clinical staff and contribute to a positive workplace culture

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree with completion of an accredited Psychiatry residency
• Board certified or board eligible in Psychiatry preferred
• Active California medical license or ability to obtain prior to start
• DEA registration or ability to obtain/transfer DEA credentials
• Experience or interest in working in correctional/forensic mental health settings is a strong plus
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required or obtainable upon hire
• Strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and teamwork orientation

Education

• MD or DO with completed Psychiatry residency

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in psychiatric assessment and psychopharmacology
• Skilled in risk assessment, crisis intervention, and safety planning
• Familiarity with treatment planning and evidence-based modalities
• Comfortable working with electronic health records and clinical documentation
• Ability to collaborate effectively with nursing, social work, and ancillary staff
• Culturally competent care and trauma-informed approaches
