Roles & Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments for patients
- Develop and manage individualized treatment plans, including psychopharmacology
- Provide crisis assessments and timely interventions to ensure patient safety
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary mental health team to coordinate care
- Document clinical encounters clearly and maintain compliance with facility standards
- Participate in team meetings, case reviews, and ongoing quality improvement efforts
- Support training and mentorship of clinical staff and contribute to a positive workplace culture
Qualifications
- MD or DO degree with completion of an accredited Psychiatry residency
- Board certified or board eligible in Psychiatry preferred
- Active California medical license or ability to obtain prior to start
- DEA registration or ability to obtain/transfer DEA credentials
- Experience or interest in working in correctional/forensic mental health settings is a strong plus
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required or obtainable upon hire
- Strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and teamwork orientation
Education
- MD or DO with completed Psychiatry residency
Knowledge & Skills
- Expertise in psychiatric assessment and psychopharmacology
- Skilled in risk assessment, crisis intervention, and safety planning
- Familiarity with treatment planning and evidence-based modalities
- Comfortable working with electronic health records and clinical documentation
- Ability to collaborate effectively with nursing, social work, and ancillary staff
- Culturally competent care and trauma-informed approaches
