Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care for oncology patients on an 8S Oncology unit
• Administer and safely manage medications and infusions, including blood products and electrolyte replacement
• Operate and troubleshoot Baxter infusion pumps and other unit equipment
• Monitor patients closely for neutropenic complications and implement neutropenic precautions
• Document assessments, interventions and care plans accurately in Meditech
• Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists and multidisciplinary team members to optimize patient outcomes
• Perform dressing changes, maintain lines and caps per unit guidelines, and enforce strict I&O monitoring
• Educate patients and families about care plans, procedures and post-discharge needs

Qualifications

• Active RN license (required)
• BLS certification (required)
• Oncology clinical background (required)
• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience
• Chemotherapy certification (preferred)
• Experience with Baxter pumps and Meditech (preferred)
• Hematology-Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant experience is a plus
• Compassionate bedside manner and strong assessment skills

Education

• Active RN license (required); BLS required
• Nursing degree (ADN/BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Oncology nursing principles and neutropenic precautions
• Safe chemotherapy/medication administration practices
• IV therapy, blood product administration and infusion pump management
• Proficiency with Meditech EMR
• Strong clinical judgment, documentation and time management
• Clear patient and family education and communication skills
