Roles & Responsibilities

• Master ultrasound-guided peripheral venous access to save the day for pediatric patients
• Perform vascular access procedures with precision in a fast-paced peds hospital
• Float seamlessly to other UCSF facilities, expanding your impact
• Educate patients and families with compassion during critical moments
• Troubleshoot vascular access issues like a pro, ensuring top-notch care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on respiratory, sepsis, cardiac, surgery, and trauma cases

Qualifications

• Active CA RN License and AHA BLS certification
• Vascular access experience at a pediatric hospital
• Expertise in ultrasound PIV placement
• Comfortable with Epic charting system
• 1:1 patient ratio experience in inpatient settings
• Ability to float to other UCSF facilities

Education

• RN licensure required; BSN preferred for teaching hospital environment

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in PICC lines, midline catheters, and short peripheral catheters
• Skilled in managing venous access complications like CLABSI, phlebitis, and extravasation
• Experienced with special populations including neonatal/pediatric patients
• Knowledge of infusion therapies such as parenteral nutrition and transfusion therapy
• Aseptic technique, device stabilization, and ultrasound-guided access mastery
