Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic sonographic examinations (all requested exams) for radiologist interpretation, with emphasis on AB/OB studies
• Apply professional judgment and radiation protection principles during procedures
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation for each procedure
• Assume departmental quality assurance responsibilities and assist with accreditation efforts
• Prepare and care for transducers and maintain a neat, organized work area (Trophon station care included)
• Assist with ultrasound-guided invasive procedures and consult with referring physicians as needed
• Transfer patients safely to and from imaging and provide age-appropriate patient care across the lifespan
• Participate in department meetings, in‑services, disaster drills, and continuing education to stay current

Qualifications

• Current ARDMS certification in at least one category (ABD, OB/GYN, RVT, or RDCS) required
• AB/OB experience required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required (AHA)
• Able to perform all diagnostic exams related to assigned modality; competency in two fields (general + vascular or cardiac) preferred
• Willingness to rotate shifts and travel to various SEARHC sites as needed
• Demonstrated ability to work well under stress and assume departmental responsibility in absence of supervisor

Education

• ARDMS certification in one modality required (ABD, OB/GYN, RVT, or RDCS)
• Ongoing pursuit of RDMS credentials encouraged; formal degree not explicitly required in posting

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in sonographic examination techniques and diagnostic medical sonography
• Experience with patient records maintenance and regulatory documentation
• Knowledge of quality assurance processes and radiation protection principles
• Skilled in vascular and cardiac ultrasound (if applicable) and care of imaging equipment
• Familiarity with Trophon station care, accreditation processes, and departmental policies
• Strong communication and patient-transfer skills, and a commitment to continuing education
