Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality patient care during night shifts and ensure patient safety
• Perform thorough assessments, monitor patient status, and intervene as needed
• Administer medications and document patient responses accurately in the health record
• Execute trauma and stroke assessments using TNCC and NIHSS competencies when indicated
• Complete Trinity specialty competency testing and skills checklists to maintain clinical excellence
• Maintain infection control standards and ensure required immunizations and fit testing are up to date
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care and support smooth handoffs

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license (Iowa) required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• TNCC and NIHSS certifications required or active competency
• Successful completion of Trinity specialty competency testing and Trinity skills checklist
• Required health screenings and immunizations (drug screen, fit test, COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, Hep B, influenza, PPD/IGRA, varicella, physical/health statement)
• Comfortable working 12+ hour night shifts and participating in weekend rotations

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong assessment and triage skills with critical thinking for acute patient needs
• Proficiency in trauma and stroke assessment protocols (TNCC, NIHSS)
• Medication administration, IV therapy, and monitoring skills
• Clear clinical documentation and electronic health record familiarity
• Excellent communication with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
• Ability to maintain composure and prioritize in high-acuity situations
