Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic sonographic examinations across required body systems for radiologist interpretation
• Prepare and transfer patients safely and compassionately, adapting to age-specific needs
• Maintain accurate patient records, documentation, and departmental paperwork
• Participate in and assume responsibility for departmental quality assurance activities
• Assist with ultrasound invasive procedures and ensure proper transducer care
• Support accreditation efforts, follow policies and procedures, and help develop unit protocols
• Consult with referring physicians and collaborate with the care team to optimize patient diagnosis
• Pursue continuing education and maintain competency in evolving sonography practices

Qualifications

• Current ARDMS certification in at least one category (ABD, OB/GYN, RVT, or RDCS) required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association required
• AB/OB experience preferred and demonstrated ability to perform all diagnostic exams for assigned modality
• Ability to perform in two ultrasound fields (General and vascular, or Cardiac) as needed
• Comfort with rotating shifts and occasional travel to provide services across SEARHC sites
• Professional judgment, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work well under stress

Education

• ARDMS certification in one category (required)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong ultrasound scanning skills across abdominal, OB/GYN, vascular, and cardiac studies
• Knowledge of radiation protection principles and sonography safety practices
• Experience with quality assurance, documentation, and transducer care
• Ability to assist with invasive ultrasound procedures and maintain procedure paperwork
• Willingness to learn additional imaging modalities as directed by management
• Familiarity with accreditation processes and continuing education requirements
