Roles & Responsibilities

• Screen, evaluate, and rehabilitate patients with communication, cognitive, or swallowing disorders using evidence-based methods
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and adjust them based on patient progress
• Utilize standardized assessments to inform clinical interventions and measure outcomes
• Document all regulatory and clinically required information accurately in the electronic health record
• Provide patient, family, and caregiver counseling and education to support therapy goals
• Communicate regularly with supervisors and interdisciplinary team members about progress and barriers
• Prepare comprehensive discharge summaries in line with regulatory and clinical standards
• Participate in patient care conferences, utilization review, rehabilitation meetings, and facility trainings
• Supervise and support CFY and student SLPs, ensuring quality mentorship and compliance with supervision standards
• Obtain necessary DME and supplies when required to support patient care

Qualifications

• Active Missouri state licensure (Compact allowed)
• ASHA CCC (Certificate of Clinical Competence) required
• Minimum 1 year of SLP experience required
• LTC or Rehab clinical experience required
• New graduates accepted if they have Level II clinical experience (not just Level I observation)
• Ability to supervise CFY and student SLPs
• Familiarity with electronic documentation / EHR and accurate treatment-minute recording
• Adherence to ASHA and state practice acts, professional ethics, and code of conduct
• Participation in required trainings and facility meetings (8 hours NBO noted)

Knowledge & Skills

• Assessment and standardized testing for communication and swallowing disorders
• Treatment planning and outcome evaluation using evidence-based practice
• Dysphagia and swallowing evaluation and intervention
• Accurate regulatory documentation and electronic health record management
• Patient, family, and caregiver counseling and education
• Interdisciplinary communication and care coordination
• Supervision of CFY and student clinicians
• Understanding of ASHA and state practice acts and clinical ethics
