Roles & Responsibilities

• Evaluate and assess speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing function for patients in a rehab setting
• Design and implement individualized treatment plans that promote patient progress and functional outcomes
• Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams (PT/OT, nursing, physicians) to coordinate patient care
• Document evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries accurately and on time
• Provide caregiver and family education to support continuity of care after discharge
• Participate in team meetings to set goals, track outcomes, and refine therapy approaches

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or equivalent
• Active California SLP license (or ability to obtain prior to start)
• ASHA CCC-SLP preferred but not required — strong clinical skills are essential
• Experience in inpatient rehabilitation, acute care, or similar settings preferred
• Strong documentation skills and familiarity with standard clinical assessment tools
• Ability to pass background checks and meet facility credentialing requirements

Education

• Master of Science (M.S.) or Master of Arts (M.A.) in Speech-Language Pathology or equivalent

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in assessment and treatment of dysphagia and cognitive-communication disorders
• Knowledge of evidence-based therapy techniques and standardized assessment tools
• Comfortable working within an interdisciplinary rehab team
• Strong clinical reasoning, time management, and patient-centered communication
• Proficient with clinical documentation systems and outcome tracking
