Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess pediatric patients’ respiratory status and develop individualized treatment plans
• Deliver respiratory care interventions including aerosol therapies, oxygen management, and airway support
• Operate and troubleshoot ventilators and respiratory equipment with attention to safety and best practices
• Monitor patient response, interpret clinical data, and promptly escalate concerns to the care team
• Provide family-centered education and coaching to caregivers on home respiratory care and equipment
• Collaborate closely with nurses, physicians, and multidisciplinary staff to ensure seamless care
• Accurately document assessments, treatments, and patient progress in the medical record

Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license (or eligible) for Ohio
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; pediatric advanced certifications (PALS) highly recommended
• Graduation from an accredited respiratory therapy program (CRT or RRT credential preferred)
• Comfort and experience working with pediatric patients and their families; strong assessment and critical-thinking skills
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively on a collaborative care team

Education

• Associate Degree in Respiratory Therapy or completion of an accredited respiratory therapy program
• Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field a plus but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Ventilator management and troubleshooting
• Airway management and pediatric respiratory assessment
• Arterial blood gas (ABG) interpretation and oxygen therapy titration
• Familiarity with neonatal/pediatric respiratory devices and infection control practices
• Compassionate family education and clear clinical documentation
