Roles & Responsibilities

Prepare pediatric patients for procedures by completing focused pre-op assessments
Perform age-appropriate medication administration and verification
Provide clear, compassionate education to patients and families about pre-op instructions
Coordinate with the perioperative team to ensure smooth handoffs and on-time case starts
Document assessments, interventions, and patient education accurately in the medical record
Adhere to infection control, safety protocols, and pediatric-specific care standards
Participate in orientation, training, and unit-based quality improvement activities

Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri (required)
Experience or comfort working with pediatric patients and pre-operative workflows (preferred)
Current BLS required; PALS or pediatric certification highly desirable
Strong clinical assessment skills and ability to work collaboratively with surgical teams
Clear background check and ability to meet facility onboarding requirements

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Pediatric patient assessment and age-appropriate communication
Familiarity with pre-op processes, medication verification, and consent workflows
Basic IV/venipuncture skills and medication administration competency
Accurate clinical documentation in electronic health records
Teamwork, time management, and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced perioperative setting
