Roles & Responsibilities
- Prepare the operating room and ensure all instruments and equipment are sterile and ready
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists and perioperative staff to deliver safe patient care
- Advocate for patient safety and comfort before, during and after surgical procedures
- Perform surgical counts, document care and maintain accurate perioperative records
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and respond quickly in high-pressure situations
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana (required)
- Previous operating room (OR) experience preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced certifications (e.g., ACLS, CNOR) a plus
- Strong teamwork, communication and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Principles of sterile technique and infection control
- Familiarity with surgical instruments, supplies and OR setup
- Perioperative patient assessment and monitoring
- Accurate documentation and surgical count procedures
- Clear communication with multidisciplinary teams
