Roles & Responsibilities

Prepare the operating room and ensure all instruments and equipment are sterile and ready
Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists and perioperative staff to deliver safe patient care
Advocate for patient safety and comfort before, during and after surgical procedures
Perform surgical counts, document care and maintain accurate perioperative records
Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and respond quickly in high-pressure situations

Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana (required)
Previous operating room (OR) experience preferred
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced certifications (e.g., ACLS, CNOR) a plus
Strong teamwork, communication and critical thinking skills
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Principles of sterile technique and infection control
Familiarity with surgical instruments, supplies and OR setup
Perioperative patient assessment and monitoring
Accurate documentation and surgical count procedures
Clear communication with multidisciplinary teams
