Roles & Responsibilities

• Evaluate patient outcomes and adjust respiratory care plans collaboratively with the care team
• Provide clear, compassionate explanation and education to patients and families about respiratory conditions and treatments
• Plan, implement, and evaluate effectiveness of respiratory care interventions based on physician orders
• Deliver respiratory treatments and monitor patient response while communicating closely with nursing and medical staff
• Share clinical knowledge with staff and students; act as a role model for best practices
• Accept reassignment to other units when necessary to support patient needs and operational flow

Qualifications

• Valid Illinois Respiratory Therapist License required
• RRT or CRT credential accepted (they can be a CRT or RRT)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• NRP-MHC certification listed as required
• Associate's degree required
• Comfort working nights and in a fast-paced hospital environment

• Patient education on respiratory disease processes and interventions
• Effective communication within a multidisciplinary team
