Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor patients with respiratory disorders, delivering compassionate, evidence-based care
• Manage and operate ventilators and other respiratory equipment, adjusting settings per clinician orders
• Administer respiratory treatments such as aerosolized medications, chest physiotherapy, and airway clearance techniques
• Perform arterial blood gas sampling and interpret results to support clinical decision-making
• Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary team members to develop and update care plans
• Document interventions and patient responses accurately and promptly in the medical record
• Respond rapidly to respiratory emergencies and assist with critical interventions when needed

Qualifications

• Active state respiratory therapist license required (ability to obtain Georgia license if not already held)
• NBRC credentialing such as CRT or RRT preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred
• Demonstrated experience managing ventilators and respiratory therapy equipment
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and patient communication skills
• Ability to pass credentialing and background checks for the facility

Education

• Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy or equivalent from an accredited program
• Completion of an accredited respiratory care program required

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency with mechanical ventilation modes and settings
• Knowledge of respiratory pharmacology and aerosol delivery techniques
• Skilled in arterial blood gas (ABG) analysis and interpretation
• Comfortable with electronic medical record documentation and clinical workflows
• Excellent teamwork, communication, and patient advocacy abilities
• Ability to prioritize and respond effectively in high-acuity situations
