Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert respiratory care across critical care units, including adult and NICU/Peds service lines
• Manage ventilators and advanced respiratory devices (adult and pediatric) with confidence
• Perform transport ventilator support and contribute to safe patient transfers
• Document patient care accurately in Cerner EMR to ensure continuity and quality
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
• Respond to respiratory emergencies and provide timely, evidence-based interventions
• Support unit needs by floating to different critical care areas as required

Qualifications

• North Carolina Respiratory License (required)
• RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) — required
• BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications — required
• NRP certification preferred
• Minimum 2+ years of respiratory therapy experience (as stated)
• Comfortable working in high-acuity critical care and pediatric/NICU settings
• Ability to work rotating nights and varying weekends

Education

• RRT credential required
• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Ventilator management for adult and pediatric patients
• Experience with GE R860, Draeger infant/peds vents, Newport HT70 transport vent, V60 non-invasive devices
• Familiarity with high-flow devices such as Vapotherm and Comfort Flow
• Proficient documentation in Cerner EMR
• Strong critical thinking, emergency response, and team communication skills
