Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to Step-Down Unit patients
• Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry and other vital data, escalating concerns promptly
• Administer medications and treatments safely and in line with policy
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and the interdisciplinary team to implement care plans
• Educate patients and families about condition, treatment, and recovery to support positive outcomes
• Document clinical care accurately and timely in the electronic health record

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license — Louisiana RN licensure or active compact license preferred
• BLS (Basic Life Support) required; ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) strongly preferred
• Previous experience in step-down, telemetry, progressive care, or critical care settings preferred
• Strong assessment skills, clinical judgment, and ability to prioritize in a busy unit
• Excellent communication skills and a patient-centered approach

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in cardiac monitoring and telemetry interpretation
• Skilled in IV medication administration and titratable drips
• Familiarity with progressive or step-down patient populations
• Ability to triage and escalate acute changes in patient condition
• Comfortable using electronic medical records and documenting clear, concise notes
