Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care for step-down unit patients
• Continuously assess and monitor patient condition using clinical judgment and telemetry
• Administer medications, manage IV infusions, and titrate therapies per orders
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and the interdisciplinary team to drive patient outcomes
• Educate patients and families about care plans, recovery goals, and discharge instructions
• Document care accurately and promptly in the electronic medical record
• Participate in unit-level quality improvement and patient safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Louisiana or eligible to obtain licensure
• Current BLS required; ACLS preferred or obtainable
• Experience in step-down, telemetry, or progressive care settings is preferred
• Strong critical thinking, assessment, and prioritization skills
• Comfortable with EMR documentation and basic computer skills
• Professional communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Hemodynamic monitoring and basic vasoactive infusion management
• Critical patient assessment and early recognition of deterioration
• Medication administration and IV therapy
• Effective interdisciplinary communication and patient education
• Time management, delegation, and unit-based prioritization
