Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care in the Step-Down Unit (SDU)
Monitor patients closely and respond quickly to changes in condition
Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely
Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care plans
Document care thoroughly and clearly in the electronic medical record
Participate in unit-based quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
Educate patients and families to promote recovery and safe transitions of care

Qualifications

Current Registered Nurse (RN) credential — your core requirement
Experience or comfort working in a Step-Down/SDU environment preferred
Strong clinical assessment and patient monitoring skills
Excellent communication and teamwork — you’ll partner with a multidisciplinary team
Clinical certifications (e.g., BLS/ACLS) are often encouraged — check with the recruiter

Knowledge & Skills

Patient assessment and monitoring in a higher-acuity environment
Safe medication administration and documentation
Familiarity with electronic medical records and clear clinical charting
Critical thinking, prioritization and effective clinical judgment
Team collaboration and clear communication with patients and staff
