Hours per Week: 36

Candidate Pay Rate: $47 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care to step-down (SDU) patients
Monitor and assess patients continuously, responding quickly to changes in condition
Administer medications, treatments, and therapies safely and accurately
Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and multidisciplinary teams to develop and carry out care plans
Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments, and discharge plans
Document care clearly and timely in the medical record to ensure continuity and quality

Qualifications

Active RN license in Louisiana or compact RN eligible (please have license ready)
Current BLS required; ACLS preferred or willing to obtain
Previous experience in a step-down unit (SDU), progressive care, or telemetry is highly desirable
Strong clinical assessment skills and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced setting
Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Comfort with telemetry and monitoring equipment common to SDU settings
Solid knowledge of cardiac rhythms, hemodynamic monitoring, and common post-operative care
Proficiency with electronic health records and accurate documentation
Critical thinking, situational awareness, and effective time management
Ability to teach patients and families in a caring, clear manner
