Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor cardiac telemetry and quickly identify and intervene for dysrhythmias to keep patients safe
• Start and maintain IVs, manage central/PICC/peripheral lines, and handle blood product administration with precision
• Administer medications and titrate IV insulin/heparin protocols following facility guidelines
• Participate actively on Rapid Response/Code teams and respond to emergencies calmly and effectively
• Perform phlebotomy and laboratory monitoring to support accurate, timely clinical decisions
• Provide compassionate patient education and discharge teaching to empower patients and families
• Document care accurately in EPIC to ensure continuity and clarity across the care team
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary partners (PT, RT, Pharmacy, Social Work) to deliver coordinated patient care

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license (must be eligible to practice in Ohio)
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (telemetry/step-down or progressive care experience strongly preferred)
• Able to pass the facility telemetry test (telemetry competency required)
• BLS required; ACLS preferred
• IV certification required and demonstrated IV start/maintenance skills
• EPIC experience required for documentation and charting
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guideline
• Comfort with floating to other units as needed and working every-other-weekend coverage

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Dysrhythmia recognition and management
• IV therapy, IV starts, central/PICC/peripheral line care
• Medication administration and titration of insulin/heparin drips
• Phlebotomy and laboratory monitoring
• Blood product administration and transfusion safety
• Oxygen therapy and non-invasive airway management
• Wound care and isolation precautions/PPE
• Experience working in progressive care / step-down / PCU settings
• Proficient use of EPIC for charting and communication
