Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality nursing care to patients on PCU and Oncology Medical-Surgical units using EPIC charting and Pyxis medication systems
• Manage and monitor telemetry, interpret dysrhythmias, and respond effectively with unit-based emergency procedures
• Deliver hands-on care including IV therapy, blood product administration, central line and PICC management, phlebotomy, and feeding tube care
• Support respiratory needs: manage HFNC, BiPAP/CPAP, interpret ABGs, and provide tracheostomy care
• Float between units to meet patient and staffing needs while maintaining patient safety in a locked corrections environment
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams — Respiratory, PT, Pharmacy, Radiology, Social Services, and Rapid Response — to coordinate patient-centered care
• Ensure adherence to heparin and insulin protocols and participate in rapid response/code teams when needed
• Maintain strong communication with Corrections Officers to ensure secure access and safety for staff and patients

Qualifications

• EPIC charting experience required
• BLS (Basic Life Support) required
• ACLS and NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of experience (must meet requirements within the 3 most recent years); at least 1 year of current specialty experience required for clinical pass
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Experience with medical-surgical/telemetry, PCU, IV therapy, cardiac monitoring, and Pyxis is highly valued
• Comfort working in a locked corrections unit with staff safety practices and collaboration with Corrections Officers
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guideline

• Pyxis medication system use
• Medical-Surgical and Telemetry care
• Progressive/PCU patient management
• IV therapy, starting/maintaining IVs, blood product administration, central line and PICC management
• Cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Insulin and heparin protocols
• Feeding tube care and tracheostomy management
• HFNC, BiPAP/CPAP, ABG interpretation, and non-invasive airway support
• Use of Rapid Response and Code teams
