Contract Type: Per-Diem

Shift Type: 10.5-hour shifts; schedule to be confirmed (specific start/end times and days TBD); shift type: PACU

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $47 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide safe, compassionate post-anesthesia nursing care for surgical patients
Assess and monitor patient status including airway, breathing and circulation
Administer medications and pain management per protocol and physician orders
Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists and the perioperative team to optimize outcomes
Perform timely and accurate documentation in the patient medical record
Educate patients and families about post-anesthesia care and discharge instructions
Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and escalate concerns as appropriate

Qualifications

Current Registered Nurse (RN) credential
PACU experience strongly preferred
Active or eligible RN licensure for Louisiana
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or obtained upon hire
Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking and teamwork skills

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Post-anesthesia assessment and monitoring
Pain management and medication administration
Airway management and basic emergency response
Familiarity with perioperative workflows and PACU protocols
Effective communication with multidisciplinary teams
Comfortable using electronic medical records and charting
