Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care on a Medical-Surgical unit
• Perform thorough assessments and monitor patient condition, escalating concerns promptly
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
• Document care and patient status in the electronic health record in a timely manner
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement care plans
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge plans
• Respond effectively to emergencies and assist with procedures as needed
• Support unit goals by mentoring coworkers and contributing to quality improvement

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license for practice; Louisiana license or compact license welcomed
• Clinical experience or strong interest in Medical-Surgical nursing
• Comfortable working 12-hour shifts in a fast-paced hospital environment
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS or other advanced certifications a plus
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills
• Ability to provide safe, evidence-based nursing care and maintain professional documentation

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN required); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid understanding of Med/Surg patient assessment and care planning
• Medication administration and IV therapy skills
• Familiarity with EHR charting and electronic medication administration systems
• Wound care, post-operative care, and common Med/Surg interventions
• Prioritization, time management, and the ability to function well under pressure
• Effective interpersonal skills and collaborative practice with multidisciplinary teams
