Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care on a Med/Surg unit
• Perform thorough patient assessments and develop timely care plans
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care
• Monitor patient progress and escalate changes in condition promptly
• Document patient care clearly and efficiently in the electronic record
• Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments, and discharge plans
• Support quality improvement and unit initiatives to enhance patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana (or compact RN eligible)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS preferred or obtainable
• Previous Med/Surg nursing experience or strong clinical background
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts and adapt to unit needs
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
• Valid immunizations and ability to meet facility onboarding requirements

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• RN diploma holders with relevant experience may be considered

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of med/surg nursing practices and standards
• Proficient in medication administration and IV therapy basics
• Skilled in patient assessment, wound care, and post-operative care
• Comfortable with electronic charting and clinical documentation
• Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced hospital environment
• Team-oriented attitude with strong interpersonal skills
