Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care on a Med/Surg unit, monitoring and assessing patients throughout your shift
• Administer medications, treatments, and interventions safely and accurately
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to create and implement individualized care plans
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, and discharge instructions to support recovery
• Document patient care thoroughly and timely in the electronic medical record
• Recognize and escalate changes in patient condition, advocating for timely interventions

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Louisiana (or multistate/compact RN if applicable)
• Experience or strong familiarity with Medical-Surgical nursing (Med/Surg) is highly desirable
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS or PALS as applicable/encouraged
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple patients and prioritize care in a fast-paced hospital setting
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to patient care

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid patient assessment and clinical decision-making skills
• Medication administration and IV therapy knowledge
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and documentation best practices
• Fundamentals of post-operative and medical patient care
• Ability to triage, prioritize, and escalate concerns appropriately
• Teamwork, empathy, and patient education skills
