Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, efficient, and compassionate direct patient care on the Med/Surg unit
• Assess and monitor patient condition, recognizing and acting on changes early
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and document appropriately
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and the interdisciplinary team to deliver coordinated care
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, care plans, and discharge instructions
• Maintain accurate, timely charting in the electronic health record
• Respond effectively to urgent situations and participate in unit-level patient safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or eligibility for licensure
• Current BLS certification; ACLS and other certifications encouraged or as required by the facility
• Med/Surg nursing experience preferred
• Comfort working 12.5-hour shifts and adapting to unit scheduling needs
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and patient advocacy skills

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid understanding of Med/Surg nursing principles and best practices
• Competence with medication administration and IV therapy
• Proficiency with electronic health records and accurate documentation
• Ability to prioritize, triage, and manage a varied patient load
• Excellent teamwork, patient education, and bedside manner
