Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, patient-centered care to Med/Surg patients
- Perform thorough assessments and document findings accurately
- Administer medications and treatments safely and according to policy
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care plans
- Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments and discharge plans
- Monitor patient progress and promptly escalate changes in condition
- Contribute to quality improvement and unit-based initiatives
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse licensure in Hawaii or compact RN licensure eligibility
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Clinical experience or comfort working on a Med/Surg unit preferred
- Strong assessment, critical thinking and communication skills
- Ability to work 12.5-hour shifts and meet the physical demands of the role
- Professional attitude, teamwork mindset and patient advocacy
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Med/Surg nursing clinical skills and patient assessment
- Medication administration and IV therapy familiarity
- Accurate electronic medical record documentation
- Strong prioritization and time management
- Clear communication with patients, families and clinical teams
- Adherence to hospital policies, safety and infection control standards
