Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM; schedule in 4-week blocks (full-time requires 4 weekend shifts per month, e.g., 3 Saturdays and 1 Sunday). Day shift with weekend rotations and occasional floating to other inpatient units as needed.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care to Med Surg and Ortho patients, ensuring safety and dignity
• Manage an assigned patient load (typical ratios around 6:1) while prioritizing critical needs
• Collaborate with PCTs, SNEs, unit secretaries, and the interdisciplinary team to deliver coordinated care
• Accurately document patient care and assessments using the Meditech documentation system
• Support unit operations by floating to inpatient areas, CCU, and ED when needed
• Adhere to unit policies, dress code, and hospital standards while promoting a positive patient experience

Qualifications

• Current RN (Registered Nurse) required
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience (Med Surg and/or Ortho experience preferred)
• BLS certification required
• Comfortable performing or assisting with bedside procedures as appropriate to the unit
• Experience with Meditech or other electronic documentation systems is a strong plus
• Positive attitude, strong teamwork skills, and the ability to manage a patient load effectively
• Willingness to work scheduled weekends as part of the assignment

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid Med Surg and Ortho clinical knowledge and assessment skills
• Familiarity with bedside procedures and unit workflows
• Proficiency with Meditech electronic health record documentation
• Strong teamwork, communication, and patient-centered care skills
• Ability to prioritize, triage, and manage time effectively on a busy unit
• Comfort with floating to other inpatient settings and adapting to different team structures
