Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts, 6:45 AM - 7:15 PM and 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM, every 3rd weekend and holiday

Hours per Week: 36

Candidate Pay Rate: $63 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive nursing care to Med Surg and ER patients, including swing bed rehab, pain control, pneumonia, hypertensive crisis, bowel obstructions, and cardiac cases
Titrate medications, start IVs, manage PICC lines and ports, and participate in codes (cardiorespiratory, stroke, sepsis) and trauma responses
Float between Emergency Department and Med Surg as needed, ensuring seamless patient care
Read and document telemetry strips independently using Mindray monitors, complete EKGs
Collaborate with a small team (2 licensed nurses and 1 CNA) to manage up to 9 Med Surg rooms and 3 ER bays
Admit, discharge, and transfer patients, including critical/trauma patients requiring higher level of care or flight transport

Qualifications

Active RN license in Minnesota
BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications required
Must have ER experience to float between Med Surg and ER
Ability to work independently with minimal staff and communicate directly with hospitalists
Comfortable with on-call shifts for high patient volumes (voluntary)

Knowledge & Skills

Proficiency in starting IVs, titrating drips (insulin, amiodarone, cardizem, levophed), and managing PICC/ports
Experience with Meditech EMR
Strong telemetry monitoring and EKG interpretation skills
Ability to respond to codes and traumas confidently
Knowledge of EMTALA regulations for patient transfers
