Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care to Med-Surg and Orthopedics patients
• Assess, monitor and document patient status in Meditech with accuracy and clinical judgment
• Administer medications and treatments safely and follow physician orders
• Coordinate care with PCTs, LPNs and physicians to manage assigned patient load (typically around a 6:1 ratio)
• Assist with bedside procedures when required and support post-operative ortho care
• Adhere to unit policies, dress code and maintain BLS certification
• Participate in float assignments to inpatient areas including CCU and ED as needed

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Minimum 2 years of recent clinical experience (experience indicated in job posting)
• Experience or comfort working in Medical-Surgical and Orthopedics settings
• Familiarity with Meditech or willingness to learn quickly
• Positive attitude, teamwork mindset and ability to manage a full patient load

Knowledge & Skills

• Medical-Surgical nursing principles and orthopedics patient care
• Meditech electronic documentation system
• Patient assessment, clinical decision making and medication administration
• Team communication and delegation with PCTs and support staff
• Ability to float across inpatient units and prioritize workload
• Understanding of unit staffing patterns and patient ratios
