Roles & Responsibilities

Provide safe, patient-centered perioperative nursing care in the operating room
Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and perioperative staff to coordinate surgical procedures
Prepare the OR environment and ensure all equipment and supplies are ready and functioning
Monitor patient status continuously and respond quickly to changes during perioperative care
Document perioperative interventions, patient responses, and post-op instructions accurately
Advocate for patients and families to ensure their needs and concerns are addressed throughout surgical care

Qualifications

Current and active RN license (ability to practice in Louisiana preferred)
Experience in Operating Room (OR) nursing or strong perioperative nursing background
BLS certification required; ACLS and specialty perioperative certifications preferred
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in fast-paced surgical teams
Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Knowledge of sterile technique and perioperative infection control practices
Familiarity with common surgical instruments and OR equipment
Ability to perform pre-op and post-op patient assessments
Skill in documenting nursing care and communicating with multidisciplinary teams
Comfort working with electronic health record systems
