Roles & Responsibilities
- Coordinate and deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care to long-term care residents
- Perform thorough nursing assessments, document findings, and develop/implement individualized care plans
- Accurately administer medications and therapeutics and monitor resident responses
- Provide leadership during your shift, delegating and supervising CNAs, LPNs, and ward clerks
- Serve as Charge RN when DON is not present and support team functioning during complex situations
- Educate residents, families, and staff; lead in-services and contribute to ongoing competency development
- Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary teams and ensure continuity of care
- Maintain meticulous EHR documentation and follow facility policies, infection control, and reporting guidelines
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing (BSN, ADN, or Diploma)
- Current, full, unrestricted RN license in Alaska or another U.S. state required; direct hires must have applied for an Alaska license before start date
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Clinical competency assessment and High Risk competency required per SEARHC timelines
- Minimum 1-2 years of nursing experience preferred in acute or long-term care
- Able to lift/move up to 50 lbs and perform required physical duties of the role
Education
- Graduate of accredited school of Nursing (BSN, ADN, or Diploma)
- High school diploma or equivalent
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong patient assessment, care planning, and medication administration skills
- Proficiency with EHR documentation and interdisciplinary communication
- Knowledge of infection control practices and pharmaceuticals
- Ability to use basic and specialized medical equipment (including AED)
- Leadership, delegation, and charge nurse experience are highly valued
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to teach residents and staff
