Roles & Responsibilities

Provide high-quality, patient-centered labor and delivery nursing care for mothers and newborns
Continuously monitor maternal and fetal status and escalate concerns promptly
Assist and support physicians and midwives during labor and delivery
Educate and emotionally support patients and families through labor, birth and immediate postpartum care
Document assessments, interventions and outcomes accurately in the medical record
Respond effectively to obstetric emergencies and participate in codes and emergency drills
Contribute to unit-based quality improvement and patient safety initiatives

Qualifications

Active RN license in Louisiana or eligibility for state licensure
Experience in Labor and Delivery nursing preferred
Current BLS required, NRP and fetal monitoring competency preferred
Strong clinical assessment skills and ability to manage high-acuity obstetric patients
Ability to pass background check and drug screen as required by facility

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Proficient in maternal and fetal monitoring and interpretation
Skilled in labor support, delivery assistance and newborn care
Comfortable using electronic medical records for documentation
Excellent communication and teamwork skills for multidisciplinary care
Strong critical thinking and emergency response capabilities
