Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, evidence-based labor and delivery nursing care for antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum patients
• Perform continuous fetal monitoring and recognize/treat abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
• Start and maintain IVs, manage infusion pumps, and administer medications including blood products
• Assist and circulate for C-sections and support post-operative recovery
• Deliver neonatal care in the delivery room (APGARs, radiant warmer management, cord collection)
• Support breastfeeding and provide lactation assistance to new families
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (rapid response, pharmacy, respiratory, social services) to optimize patient outcomes
• Float to other units within the OSU organization as needed, providing flexible, competent care

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required
• Current BLS, ACLS and NRP certifications required
• Epic charting experience required
• Proven skill in IV start and IV therapy
• Comfort with fetal monitoring and intrauterine pressure catheter/IUPC use
• Willingness to float to other units within the OSU system as requested
• Previous travel or agency experience preferred
• Acceptable additional certifications: AWHONN Advanced, NCC C-EFM (preferred where noted)

Knowledge & Skills

• Fetal monitoring (external and internal) and interpretation of fetal heart rate patterns
• Neonatal delivery room care and APGAR assessments
• IV therapy, central line maintenance (CVC/PICC), infusion pump management
• C-section assist and recovery nursing
• Telemetry interpretation and emergency cardiac monitoring
• Breastfeeding support and postpartum care
• Use of Epic for charting and documentation
• Comfort with obstetric procedures: spiral electrode & IUPC placement, sterile vaginal exams
