Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert, compassionate critical care for SICU and TICU patients, including post-op vascular and trauma cases
• Manage ventilators, interpret EKG/telemetry strips, and operate rapid infusers as needed
• Administer and monitor CRRT and ECMO therapies in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team
• Perform and manage central line care, assist with line placements, and support IABP/donor patient needs
• Document accurately and efficiently in Cerner, ensuring bedside report and continuity of care
• Serve as a reliable team player who may float between units and other Sacramento facilities when census requires
• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and collaborate with hospitalists/intensivists and ancillary teams
• Support unit operations by providing break relief, charge-assist duties when required, and mentoring during orientation

Qualifications

• Active RN license (able to submit) and at least 2 years of ICU or critical care nursing experience
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required; NIHSS required; TNCC preferred (TICU)
• Hands-on experience with ventilator management, telemetry/EKG interpretation, CRRT and ECMO strongly preferred
• Comfortable with vascular surgical postop care (CEA, fem-pop, EVAR) and trauma patient management
• Ability to work nights, float between SICU and TICU, and cover every-other-weekend shifts
• Must NOT have been directly employed by any CommonSpirit-associated facility (including CHI or Dignity) within the past year; PRN employment through outside firms is acceptable
• Strong communication skills, teamwork, and the ability to function in a fast-paced acute care setting

Education

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the appropriate state (California for this role)
• BSN not required for submission

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient with Cerner EMR charting and bedside reporting
• Telemetry/EKG strip reading and interpretation
• Mechanical ventilation and ventilator troubleshooting
• Experience with CRRT and ECMO systems and protocols
• Familiarity with rapid infusers, central line care, and post-op vascular/trauma care
• Ability to prioritize in high-acuity situations and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
• Comfort with float assignments and adaptable scheduling
