Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, compassionate ICU care for adults with critical diagnoses including trauma, cardiac events, sepsis, stroke and respiratory distress
• Interpret telemetry and monitor strips (GE monitors) and document findings accurately in EPIC
• Titrate drips safely and confidently (cardiac drips, insulin, sedation) following unit protocols
• Troubleshoot ventilators and respiratory equipment from nasal cannula through mechanical ventilation support
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including RTs, nurse aides and providers, to optimize patient outcomes
• Provide safe patient assignments at typical ICU ratios (1:2-3 adults) and float to PCU/MedSurg when needed
• Complete unit-specific orientation and demonstrate mastery on skills checks and the orientation exam

Qualifications

• Active RN license (state licensure required for submission)
• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU/critical care nursing experience
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS required
• Strong telemetry interpretation and drip-titration experience
• Comfortable with ventilator troubleshooting and respiratory support escalation
• Driver's license required at submittal (used to validate radius eligibility)
• Willingness to comply with facility policies (example: no artificial nails in patient care areas)
• Ability to arrive within 30 minutes if called back in from on-call status

Education

• Active RN license required (BSN not required)
• BSN not required per job details

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care assessment and bedside monitoring
• Telemetry/monitor interpretation (GE monitors) and documentation
• Drip titration and infusion management
• Ventilator troubleshooting and basic ventilator support
• EPIC charting and electronic documentation best practices
• Trauma and cardiac care fundamentals, including stroke care (NIHSS)
• Effective teamwork, communication, and prioritization in high-acuity settings
• Working with nurse aides and 1:1 sitters to deliver safe patient care
