Roles & Responsibilities

• Triage patients quickly and accurately, assessing physical and psychosocial needs to prioritize care
• Provide direct and indirect patient care in the emergency setting with initiative and professional judgment
• Communicate changes in patient status, symptoms, and diagnostic results to ER physicians and mid-level providers
• Respond rapidly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment
• Give direction to Emergency Department techs, registration staff, and allied health personnel to promote smooth patient flow
• Collaborate with families, physicians, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver compassionate, timely care

Qualifications

• Current MT State Registered Nurse (RN) license required
• Degree from an accredited nursing program required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Room nursing experience required
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, ENPC required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire
• Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) strongly preferred
• Basic computer skills and comfort with manual and electronic medical equipment

Education

• Degree from an accredited nursing program required
• BSN preferred

• Emergency Department nursing principles and procedures
• Triage and rapid patient assessment
• IV insertion and management skills
• Operate and troubleshoot manual and electronic medical equipment
• Strong communication and teamwork with multidisciplinary teams
• Leadership skills for directing techs and registration staff
