Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality non-invasive cardiology care across inpatient and outpatient settings
• Interpret and perform electrocardiograms (EKGs) and incorporate findings into clinical plans
• Manage average daily clinic and inpatient patient volume (clinic ~10/day; inpatient admissions ~12–15/day)
• Cover scheduled call duties on a 1:6 rotation and respond to urgent cardiology needs
• Supervise and collaborate with a team of 4 APCs to ensure excellent patient care and workflow
• Document patient encounters and care plans in EPIC accurately and timely
• Coordinate care with the existing cardiology colleague(s) and hospital teams during the locum coverage period

Qualifications

• Board-certified non-invasive cardiologist (Board Certification required)
• Clinical experience in inpatient and outpatient cardiology with proficiency in EKG interpretation
• Experience using EPIC EMR for documentation and care coordination
• Comfort supervising and mentoring advanced practice clinicians (experience supervising APCs preferred)
• Ability to manage adult and geriatric patient populations and handle a steady inpatient admission volume
• Willingness to cover call at a 1:6 ratio and participate in local full-time coverage model

Education

• Board certification in cardiology
• Medical degree (MD or DO) — physician-level training expected

Knowledge & Skills

• Non-invasive cardiology clinical knowledge
• Electrocardiogram (EKG) interpretation and integration into clinical decision-making
• EPIC electronic medical record proficiency
• Inpatient admissions management and triage
• Call coverage workflows and urgent cardiology response
• Team leadership and supervision of APCs
