Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide consultative care for orthopedic inpatients and assist with rounding
• Perform thorough history & physical exams and document H&P in Epic
• Support orthopedic surgeons in the OR as a first assist when needed
• Manage inpatient trauma and orthopedic patient needs alongside the surgical team
• Ensure continuity of care by communicating with surgeons, nursing staff, and ancillary services
• Complete required EMR modules and trainings prior to first shift to ensure safe documentation

Qualifications

• Active Physician Assistant credentialing appropriate for practice (able to complete pre-app and full app)
• Demonstrated experience in orthopedics and inpatient/trauma settings
• Epic EMR experience — be ready to state years of Epic use and most recent facility
• Comfortable functioning with limited on-site support staff and providing autonomous clinical decision-making
• Willingness to travel and stay at preferred lodging for the assignment dates
• Availability for the defined assignment blocks starting February 9, 2026

Education

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program (PA-C or equivalent preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient with inpatient orthopedic consults, rounding workflows, and H&P documentation
• Hands-on familiarity with first assist duties in orthopedic procedures (as available)
• Experience working in trauma Level I environments and managing acute presentations
• Strong communication skills for coordinating with surgeons, multidisciplinary teams, and patients
• Ability to complete virtual Epic training and adhere to credentialing timelines
