Roles & Responsibilities

• Manage complex CVICU patients with vigilant hemodynamic monitoring and critical thinking
• Provide ventilator management and titrate respiratory support safely and effectively
• Perform and manage invasive lines and devices including arterial lines, central lines and Swan Ganz monitoring
• Care for chest tubes and respond to post-operative CABG recovery needs
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and execute patient care plans
• Document care accurately in the Meditech electronic medical record
• Respond to emergencies and support rapid, evidence based interventions
• Mentor and communicate effectively with team members to ensure cohesive, high quality care

Qualifications

• Active RN license in the United States, required
• Minimum 2 years of critical care experience (adult ICU, CVICU, Neuro ICU or other critical care specialties), must have
• Proven ventilator experience and competence with arterial, central line and chest tube management
• Experience with hemodynamic monitoring and Swan Ganz
• Comfortable working 2:1 patient ratios in a high acuity CVICU environment
• Current BLS and ACLS certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start)
• CCRN preferred; BSN preferred
• Experience with Meditech EMR is a plus

Education

• RN required; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of critical care principles and cardiovascular physiology
• Skill in ventilator management and respiratory assessment
• Proficiency with invasive monitoring devices including Swan Ganz and arterial lines
• Ability to manage chest tubes and post-operative cardiac patients
• Familiarity with CRRT and mechanical circulatory support such as Impella is a plus
• Comfortable using Meditech for clinical documentation
• Excellent communication, teamwork and triage skills in high stress situations
