Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality critical care to ICU patients, including ventilated and post-CABG patients
• Perform continuous hemodynamic monitoring and respond to changes in condition
• Manage ventilators and provide skilled ventilator care and weaning as appropriate
• Collaborate closely with intensivists, cardiology teams, respiratory therapy and other disciplines
• Provide clear bedside shift reports and maintain up-to-date whiteboard communication
• Document patient care accurately in Meditech and follow unit policies and protocols
• Support unit performance in a very high-acuity environment (ECMO, heart transplant, CABG cases)

Qualifications

• Active Texas RN license required (temporary licenses will not be accepted)
• 2+ years of ICU experience strongly preferred (unit requests 2+ years ICU)
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• Proven experience with hemodynamic monitoring and ventilated patients
• Post-CABG and critical care cardiac experience preferred (CVICU, heart transplant, CABG)
• Meditech experience preferred; ECMO familiarity a plus
• Strong bedside communication skills and teamwork mindset

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care and ICU nursing best practices
• Ventilator management and respiratory therapy collaboration
• Hemodynamic monitoring and titration of vasoactive medications
• Post-operative cardiac care and familiarity with cardiac procedures
• Electronic documentation (Meditech) and accurate bedside reporting
• Ability to work in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment and float between units
