Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients and contribute to individualized occupational therapy plans that support function and independence.
• Deliver skilled therapeutic interventions and adaptive strategies to help patients reach meaningful goals.
• Document treatment, progress, and discharge planning clearly and timely in the patient record.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care and optimize outcomes.
• Educate patients and families on home programs, adaptive equipment, and energy conservation techniques.
• Maintain equipment, assistive devices, and a safe therapeutic environment.

Qualifications

• Current COTA credential (Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant) — required.
• Montana licensure or eligibility to obtain state licensure prior to start.
• Comfortable working day shifts and meeting the 36 hours/week guaranteed requirement.
• Strong documentation skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced setting.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills; patient-centered approach to care.
• Basic life support (BLS/CPR) preferred or willing to obtain as required by facility.

Education

• Associate degree or completion of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.

Knowledge & Skills

• Foundational occupational therapy techniques for functional activities and ADL training.
• Skilled in patient assessment, therapeutic interventions, and progress measurement.
• Knowledge of assistive devices, adaptive equipment, and environmental modifications.
• Competence with documentation standards and electronic health records.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with PTs, SLPs, nurses, and other care team members.
• Strong time management, clinical reasoning, and patient-education abilities.
