Roles & Responsibilities
- Train and support all users of the Electronic Health Record and ancillary clinical systems using classroom, one-on-one, remote shadowing, and web conferencing techniques
- Configure and optimize clinical content in partnership with medical staff for both outpatient and inpatient settings
- Develop clear, engaging training materials and documentation that help teams adopt best practices
- Triage user problems efficiently and route to subject matter experts or resolve when appropriate
- Manage application users and maintain system configurations to ensure accurate access and workflows
- Update application content such as lab/radiology tests, medications, immunizations, and diagnosis/procedure codes
- Continuously assess clinical decision support and recommend improvements to align with current standards of care
- Collaborate with IT staff, vendors, and cross-functional teams to drive successful implementations
- Evaluate and align clinical processes across clinics to improve consistency and patient care
- Support go-lives and be available as needed to resolve urgent technical or workflow issues
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse license in Alaska or another U.S. state required (Direct hire must have applied for Alaska license before start; agency staff must hold active Alaska license)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Minimum 5 years of work experience in a medical setting (clinical experience preferred)
- Minimum 2 years of experience with clinical information systems
- Minimum 1 year experience with computer technology such as programming, installation, or report generation
- BSN preferred; advanced degrees may substitute for minimum experience on a year-by-year basis
- Clinical informatics training, teaching experience, and inpatient clinical experience are preferred
- Familiarity with HL7 messaging is a plus
- Ability and willingness to travel approximately 10% (by jet, small aircraft, and ferry) and to work outside regular hours during implementations
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- BSN preferred; advanced degree(s) may substitute for minimum experience on a year-by-year basis
- Active RN license required
- Basic Life Support certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Deep understanding of clinical information systems and electronic health records
- Knowledge of medical standards of care and best practices in outpatient and inpatient settings
- Familiarity with scheduling, radiology, laboratory, and document scanning systems
- Comfort working with information technology systems and collaborating with IT teams
- Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills for a wide range of audiences
- Excellent problem-solving, prioritization, and judgment skills
- Experience configuring clinical content and clinical decision support
- Ability to research, analyze, and recommend process improvements
