Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting with dignity and compassion
• Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Take and record basic vital signs and report any changes in condition to nursing staff promptly
• Provide attentive personal care while promoting resident independence and comfort
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation of care and observations
• Follow infection control, safety protocols, and facility policies to protect residents and staff
• Communicate respectfully and clearly with residents, families, and team members to support person-centered care

Qualifications

• GNA certification (required)
• Current BLS/CPR certification (preferred or required depending on facility policy)
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience in long-term care, assisted living, or geriatric settings is a plus
• Ability to pass background check and drug screening
• Dependable, compassionate, and able to work effectively as part of a care team

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• GNA certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of basic geriatric care principles and resident-centered approaches
• Skilled in taking and documenting vital signs and observable changes
• Safe transfer and lifting techniques
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with residents and families
• Basic charting and documentation abilities
• Time management and ability to prioritize resident needs during a shift
