Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents
• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting)
• Monitor and report changes in condition to the nursing team promptly
• Perform routine tasks such as vital signs, mobility assistance, and basic treatments
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation of care and observations
• Support fall-prevention and infection-control practices to keep residents safe
• Collaborate with nursing staff and interdisciplinary team to deliver consistent care
• Engage residents in social interaction and meaningful daily activities

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification (Class: GNA) — required
• Valid state registration/certification as a nursing assistant where applicable
• CPR/BLS certification recommended or preferred
• Comfort working overnight shifts (11:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
• Strong communication skills and a caring, patient approach with older adults
• Willingness to complete facility-required background checks and health screenings

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an approved Geriatric Nursing Assistant program or equivalent training

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and dignity-focused care
• Ability to assist with transfers, mobility, and safe patient handling
• Basic clinical skills: taking vital signs, recognizing changes in condition
• Accurate documentation and time-management skills
• Infection control and personal protective equipment (PPE) best practices
• Teamwork and clear communication with nurses and support staff
• Observation skills and timely reporting of concerns
