Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide age-specific preventive and periodontal dental care for infants through geriatrics
• Perform periodontal therapy, coronal polishing, topical fluoride application, and radiographs
• Measure and chart periodontal pockets and record vitals including pulse, blood pressure, and temperature
• Educate patients on oral hygiene, home care, and nutrition to prevent oral disease
• Manage patient scheduling and coordinate care flow for efficient clinic operations
• Organize and lead dental prevention activities such as sealant clinics and health fairs
• Maintain hygienist supplies and ensure proper sterilization of instruments
• Perform other duties as assigned to support patient care and clinic goals

Qualifications

• Graduate of a two-year Dental Hygiene Program required
• Bachelor's degree preferred
• Pass the National Board Examination for Dental Hygienists
• Active Dental Hygiene License in Alaska or another U.S. state; Alaska license preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 45 days of start and maintained thereafter
• Clinical Competency assessment required within 3 months of hire and every 3 years
• High Risk Competency required within 3 months of hire and annually
• High school diploma or GED

Education

• Graduate of a two-year Dental Hygiene Program
• Bachelor's degree preferred
• High school diploma or GED

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of infection control techniques and instrument sterilization
• Understanding of dental and periodontal disease principles and treatment therapies
• Proficiency in clinical hygiene skills and radiography
• Excellent oral and written communication skills for patient education
• Accurate clinical judgment and strong manual dexterity
• Ability to sit and work over patients for extended periods
